Mike co-founded RP Investment Advisors LP (RPIA) in 2009 and served as Chief Investment Officer (2009–2022), where he was responsible for formulating and implementing the firm’s investment strategy across its funds. He currently sits on both the Investment Committee and the Risk Committee. On June 1, 2022, Mike transitioned out of his CIO role into an advisory capacity, while maintaining his ownership stake and investments in the firm.

Before founding RPIA, Mike was a Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets, where he spent 15 years in progressively senior roles. He led the global credit trading business and the global structured credit business, bringing deep expertise in global credit markets and extensive experience managing multi-billion-dollar credit risk exposures. Prior to his time at RBC, Mike worked as a Leasing Manager for a leading Toronto-based real estate developer.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. He is actively involved in various advisory and leadership roles, serving as:

• Advisory Board Member at the Smith School of Business (Queen’s University),
• Principal’s Advisory Board Member at Queen’s University,
• President’s Council Member at St. Michael’s Hospital,
• Board Member at the Quinn Family Future Foundation, and
• Board Member at Assembly (Canada’s leading modular home builder).
