Derivatives Analyst

Full Time | Toronto

Responsibilities

  • Support the derivative and collateral management operations at RPIA.
  • Manage relationships with ISDA counterparties, futures clearing merchants, swap execution facilities, and derivative service providers.
  • Perform middle- and back-office derivative operations and coordinate with front-office traders to ensure accuracy and completeness of derivative systems.
  • Complete daily derivative cash and position reconciliations, issue margin calls, affirm OTC derivative transactions, and prepare transaction blotters.
  • Analyze MTM discrepancies and escalate material valuation variances to the Portfolio Management team.
  • Lead derivative-related projects, including product launches, workflow design, and vendor onboarding.
  • Monitor operational processes and controls, including trade processing, minimizing operational risk, and responding to internal and external inquiries.
  • Maintain an ongoing collaborative working relationship with counterparties and prime brokers.
  • Support ad hoc projects in addition to day-to-day responsibilities, as required.
  • Support collateral and margin processes across cleared and bilateral derivatives.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary education and professional experience are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, VBA, and Python scripting.
  • Enrollment in the CFA Program is strongly recommended.
  • Solid understanding of fixed income securities and derivatives, including CDS, IRS, OIS, and futures, as well as investment concepts and strategies.
  • Three to five years of experience in investment operations is preferred.
  • Previous experience in derivative operations is required.
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg.
